Frequently asked Questions
Q: “What all do I need to come prepared with?”
A: Bring any instruments and backline that you plan on using, as well as a few packs of new strings, fresh batter heads, sticks, and a flash drive or external hard drive with at least 100 gigabytes of free disk space available to backup files onto.
Q: “Why is flat rate mixing not available if my project has a deadline?”
A: When a project is on a deadline the amount of time we have to complete it is dictated by the client’s ideal timeline. Mixes need to be approved by the artist, and usually multiple other people involved with the project before it can be considered done, and consequently, on time. The advantage of the flat rate is that the mix can be developed to the same level of quality for a lesser amount of money under a less urgent timeline. By scheduling and reserving mix time, the client is guaranteed priority service, and the process is expedited with the help of the artist guiding the direction of the mix and making revisions in real time.
For projects with deadlines, mix sessions need to be booked by the hour/day and either attended or streamed to ensure a quality and on time delivery. See chart below.
Q: “What is the difference between producing and engineering, and how will it impact my project?”
A: When engineering a session, I am simply capturing and recording the audio in it’s highest quality and operating the equipment and D.A.W. Producing involves oversight and suggestions involving song arrangements and performance.
Q: “Can you travel to me for session work?”
A: Absolutely! Contact me for a customized quote based on your situation and available resources.
